General Registration Information
If your child is new to Prince George, they’ll begin by registering at their local catchment school. Not sure which school that is? Use our Catchment School Locator to find out quickly and easily.
What you’ll need to register
To help us get to know your child and support their smooth transition into school, please bring:
- A birth certificate (original or certified copy)
- Proof of address (e.g. utility bill, rental agreement)
- A BC Services Card or Care Card
- Their most recent report card (if available)

Kindergarten Registration
Online Kindergarten registration for September 2027 will open in January 2027. Please check back here for the exact date.
Children whose fifth birthday falls on or before December 31, 2027, are eligible to enter Kindergarten in September 2027. Registration must be completed through our online forms.

Once the application has been submitted all required documents and forms should be submitted to the school within one week to finalize the registration.

Transportation
Transportation is provided to students in accordance with Policy 17 School District Transportation Services and Administrative Procedure 560 Student Transportation – Home and School and Administrative Procedure 561 Accessible Transportation for Students (revised). Parents/guardians of children that qualify for regular bussing to and from the child’s home residence and their catchment area school who wish to register for bussing MUST complete an online bus registration form annually for each of their children.
The annual online regular bus registration for the 2027-28 school year will be available on the School District’s website during the month of May 2027. Applications received after the end of June 2027 will be accommodated based on available seating.
Parents/guardians that do not have access to the internet may contact their child’s school for assistance.
Choice Program Info Sessions
Information sessions are held in January of each year. If you are considering a choice program for your child here are dates and time you can find out more information about the program. You can also visit the school website:

- École Heather Park Elementary – French Immersion program (school also has regular program)
- École Lac des Bois – French Immersion program
- Nusdeh Yoh Elementary – Indigenous Choice program
- Polaris Montessori Elementary – Montessori program
- Spruceland Community School of the Arts – Arts program
If more applications are received than available seats the school will hold a lottery as outlined in Policy 5118 School Catchment Areas, Registration and Student Transfers. Parents/guardians will be notified if a lottery is necessary. Any required lottery will occur at 4:00 pm one week following registration day.
Registration applications must be made to your catchment school if not applying to a choice program. If you have applied to a choice program it is not necessary to also apply to your catchment school. Choice program catchments are the entire district and can be applied to by anyone living within the School District No. 57 area.
Not applying to a choice program?
Register at your catchment school. You do not need to register at both your catchment and a choice school.
Choice programs are open to families across the entire district.
Registration Forms and Other Documents
Online Grade 8 Transition Process for Independent Schools
The online Grade 8 transition process for Independent Schools for fall 2026 is now closed. Please contact your catchment area school to register. The online Grade 8 transition process for Independent Schools for fall 2027 will occur in January 2027. Please check back here for details.
Students who attend Grade 7 at an independent school within the School District No. 57 boundaries can apply to a School District No. 57 school for Grade 8 using this process. Applications must be made to the catchment school associated with the student’s address. The online application process opens in January of each year and will be open for approximately 2 weeks. Details on how to apply will be sent to independent school Principals. Students looking to register after these dates should contact their catchment area school. Students looking to attend non-catchment schools should first register at their catchment school then request a transfer through the online student transfer process.
The annual online regular bus registration for the 2027-28 school year will be available on the School District’s website during the month of May 2027. Applications received after the end of June 2027 will be accommodated based on available seating.
Online Student Transfer Process
The Online Student Transfer process for students who wish to attend schools outside of their catchment area for the 2026-2027 school year is now closed. Please contact your current school Principal for options.
The Online Student Transfer process for students who wish to attend schools outside of their catchment area for the 2027-2028 school year will open in February 2027.
Students who wish to transfer schools, or who wish to attend schools outside of their catchment area next year, are required to apply through the School District 57 online transfer process. All transfer applications must be made using the online transfer application form. An application may be made from any computer or device with Internet access, or at the general office of any district school.
