SD57 is committed to providing quality, equitable, and inclusive Early Learning experiences and opportunities for young children and their families. Schools, families and communities can work alongside children to provide rich learning experiences. SD57 acknowledges children as strong, capable and full of potential and active participants in their own learning journey.

SD57 has 14 StrongStart locations. StrongStart is a free school-based early learning program for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers.

THE STRONGSTART PROGRAM

Is free

Offers a school-based, high quality early learning opportunity for children and their caregivers.
Encourages problem-solving skills, self-esteem building practices, and social skills that help children succeed in school and lay a foundation for life-long learning.
Enhances school and emotional growth in children through play.
Is a program that recognizes that the parent is the first and most important teacher in a child’s life and that increased parental involvement contributes to a positive schooling experience
Is facilitated by an Early Childhood Educator.

Community


BC Child Care Resource & Referral (CCRR) programs offer quality child care referrals, resources and support to all child care providers and parents in over 400 communities across the Province of British Columbia.	The Infant Development Program (IDP) at AiMHi offers services for children from birth to three years of age who are at risk for, or who may have a delay in development. Your participation is voluntary.	The Aboriginal Infant and Family Development Program (AIFDP) is a family-centered environment for expectant families and those with children ages birth through six. It operates at no charge to families thanks to funding from the Ministry of Children and Family Development.


The Child Development Centre (CDC) helps children in Prince George and surrounding communities prepare for greater success when they enter school and beyond. We assist children with their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and communication skills.	The District Learning Commons (DLC) is operated by SD57 and provides online resources available for supporting the learning in school and at home.	The monthly Village Newsletter is a service provided by Parent Support Services (PSS) in the Prince George community. The Village is available monthly, with updated and new information about what’s happening for parents in the community.
